Donald C. Reese -

Donald C. Reese, 81, of 813 N. Maple Ave., Minonk, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 6, 2004) at his residence.

His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, with Fr. Robert Gilles officiating.

Burial with military rites will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Memorial Home.

Memorials may be made to the Minonk American Legion Post 142 or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 650 W. 168th St., New York, NY 10032-9982.

Mr. Reese was born March 13, 1922, in Minonk, a son of Louis and Rosa Schmitt Reese. He married Patricia A. Gilmore on Oct. 4, 1947, in Bloomington. She died April 27, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Simmons of Wenona and Suanne (Gene) Rossetti of Platteville, Wis.; and one son, Michael L. (Donna) Reese of Eureka. Also surviving is one sister, Louise (Harry) Green, Minonk; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, both parents and two brothers.

Mr. Reese was an Army veteran of WWII and past commander of the Minonk American Legion Post 142. He farmed in the Minonk area most of his life and also worked at and owned the International Harvester Dealership in Minonk. He was an avid golfer and a member of Tall Oaks Golf Course and Country Club. He was fondly known as Pee Wee and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
